Think about this for a second: why is Ian liked so much by so many people?
Is it because he looks adorable, or is it just because he's a corgi?
Well, actually, there's another reason: He's a pet you interact the most with. He makes adorable emotions (chases his tail, barks, dances around), you can dress him up in hilarious outfits, hell, you can even dress him up as Runtime. He can chew on your food, too.
Now think about what other pets do.
Runtime? She doesn't even purr if you pet her.
Pun Pun? Only useful for burgers. Barely chirps.
Pete? Well, I admit, he is hilarious. But he's also annoying as shit and you constantly want to kill him.
Poly is hilarious, though. I like her the way it is.
How can we fix this lack of justice to our beloved pets?
The answer is simple: More pet stuff.
Give HoP's and CMO's office pet bowls, make Cat Food and Dog Food items that can even be eaten by humans (not reccomended, though) and make Runtime just as interactable as Ian (pls give love to cat lovers :c)
Pun Pun should be able to mess around with you (jump on your shoulders and start picking bugs out of your hair or something), poly should occasionaly sit on your shoulders and bite you if you anger her (probably 0-2 brute damage per bite)
And the best thing ever would be having your own pets ordered via cargo.
You can bug QM to get you a baby corgi, a kitten and a baby monkey you can raise singlehandedly. You can obviously name your pets, probably using rightclick menu, but only once, and it's permament.
All pets should have friends-foes-neutral relationships. If you beat Ian up constantly, he will growl when he sees you, and if you come too close, he will probably bite you for 10 damage, growl again, and bite you if you don't get it.
If Ian sustains too much damage, he will cry and run away, trying to find a place to hide from you evil son of a bitch. He'll probably beg his friends for medical threatment as well.
So, yeah. Give more credit to dem pets, pls?
