What do you guys think of giving the detective a NPC pet that you can 'load' a item with fingerprints into to have it track that character?

Why not just check the records for his print, then ask the AI or track his suit sensors?

Or find out who it is, set him to wanted and alert security via the radio. It's not like security doesn't function like a bunch of ravenous hounds anyway.

Because I know it must be possible given that the pinpointer exists, and fleshing out the detective into a more Holmes-esque character would be nifty.

Beepsky is overrated, someone punched you? Get that fucker's DNA and call in the DeathSquad, problem solved. Now go get drunk in the bar and await the inevitable pulse laser to the back of your head.
