So after playing security for a good year or so on this server I felt I needed to ask why exactly I can't get a shred of evidence off a husk.
I mean yes it was killed by a changeling but that ling still holds finger prints and fibbers. Yet when I run into a husk I scan it and find literally nothing. Sometimes I get lucked and the ling leaves the ID and personal effects and then I find the ling using the guys name. I'm sure there is an RP reason why we can't get DNA or fibbers or finger prints but I think it might be wise to give the edge a little more to the crew meaning if chemist A kills botanist A and the detective scans the body. We should find at least fibres from a chemist's coat. It seems there is less police work involved with catching lings rather than just lucking out by walking in on them absorbing someone or finding illegal items.
So we have no real way to tell if someone is a ling I don't think this is asking too much.

The crew needs a quick edge against Lings, true....

We do (did?) have an idea floating around mainly between Duel and mport about a DNA machine that could be crafted in research that could stand in as a ling test. The key points were:
1: Fully constructed machine with high research level restrictions 2: Kills lings when placed inside said machine and activated 3: Causes massive clone damage to normal humans if you screw up
What I thought would be fun is to take all those points, but make the machine a fancy washing machine rather than a DNA based machine.
Call it the Wash-o-mat 3000 or whatever. "Gets those pesky foreign DNA stains out, GUARANTEED!"
I agree that a ling test of some kind would be useful at some point, the issue is how to get it balanced so that it doesn't become: "EVERYONE INTO THE MACHINE, REFUSALS WILL BE MET WITH EXECUTIONS" every potential ling round. The above washing machine idea would likely have a limited amount uses, like how loyalty implants are scarce.

You're on the right track why not make it time consuming? that will deter placing everyone in. Like 5 mins for the test to complete

Given the rather sudden increase in Ling rounds (at least that I have faced), a better means of Ling-detection would be AMAZING. Frankly, I believe that Husks should have forensic evidence of SOME KIND left behind. I had no idea that the scanner picks up literally nothing.

You could always try and figure out who the husk was and make a mental note of that.
If you ever see that person walking around again... Well they're the ling and you know it.

We did that typically if a ling leaves the husks clothes on we can catch him but the husks I have found lately are stripped.

No 100 percent chance, though. Husking isn't a permanent boot out of the round, this would just give lings more reason to space everyone they kill.

MMI the husk's brain and now you can figure out who did it or at least who the husk is
