God it pains me to say that one of the best servers is basically dead...sorry is dead.

I want to jump start this danm server again I am sure you guys want to also so ill post facts right below of what I think sucks currently.

1. The map (I find map fine) is shit according to some people that's why some people left

2. Tasers are one shot and down

3. running speed is insane

4. to easy to grief with virology

short list but major issues I understand you honestly give two shits bout what I think but some on lets at least try so we don't end up like Titan station or some other server that's been lost in time.

I wouldn't say we're that dead, considering we have a decent enough population at times, but we do tend to die when the Americans all go to sleep and I don't believe that's going to change for quite a while, if at all.

The map is a complete matter of personal opinion, some love it, some hate it and some only like and hate portions. I personally do love the oldmap but so far only a few have raised complaints and feedbacks while the rest just kinda piss off to another server without a word.

That's just the way the combat system works in SS13, not much we could do to change it. However Lead did create a thread for a few combat overhaul ideas here: facepunchss13.proboards.com/thread/1363/. To all my limited knowledge though this will never be implemented.

Running speed to my knowledge was never altered, it's just that the general lack of lag makes your movement smoother so if you were playing on a server with a general ping of 0.70 moving to a server with a general ping of >0.30 you may get the illusion of the speed being quicker(?)

Or alternatively you were playing on Goon or Bay, they have different movement systems.

4. to easy to grief with virology

Eeh, not really. I mean you can mutate a virus and then give people annoying symptoms, but virology is a job lacking a lot of content due to all the extremely dangerous/helpful diseases being non-existent. You can easily grief way more through a variety of things, e.g. Singularity, Atmos fuckery, Bombs.

I can't think of any complaints brought up that have caused people to leave at the moment, I do know a few left because they found the newmap annoying though. I may post further if I can remember any.

The only thing I could really think of is the new map, which I personally think is a major improvement to the old one, but y'know. Opinion.

I'm not going to disagree that the population has been a tiny bit low, but saying a server is dead just because at the time you join everyone else has things to do is a bit pretentious. And I do agree that some things might need correction but I don't think Chuck Norris punching out the heart of SS13 code will help any. In all, I'm not saying, "Fuck you, you're wrong." But I urge you to remember that this is YOUR opinion. Not the opinion of every player. And I certainly do not think that the server has been forgotten in the least.

Viro got nerfed a lot on the server as far as I know, its botany that is really OP because you know, one million bananas everywhere.

Also hoping that the server will gain popularity again hopefully within a month or so, and hopefully not from the summer kids that plague SS13 for a shortwhile before they return to cowadoody.

Sometimes, dead is better. Personally I'd rather have lower population rounds compared to the 70+ chaotic rounds we used to get.

Anyway to address your complaints, people that do not like the new map usually do not like it for five reasons. They are too used to other maps, they do not like the placement of certain areas, they do not like the fact that they can't turtle in their room of specialty, and some people haven't played it and just say they hate the map because lolfp, see the end of this post for reason 5.

As for tasers, it can't be helped. One stun and done is the norm. See the end of the post for why.

For running speed, it was never changed IIRC. It was always pretty fast at the time we broke off from TG. This isn't bay were running is like walking.

Virology can't do shit half the time. An annoying virus at most. Unless we let them create the black plague, at most it usually results in the Virologist being beaten to death or forced to make a cure.



Anyway to summarize your points, if a person really likes a server, they will stay. That being said, sometimes it is the features that one might think detracts a server which makes the server good in someones eyes. But the main point is, people will complain if we change things, people will complain if we don't. No one wins.

I agree with Scooter about the population thing i enjoy small servers its so much quicker. I even used the Paradise server to compare how a 70 person server runs and as ghost i teleported instead of move and it seemed everyone and their mother was stuck on walk.

Its funny because its so fucking true. I will have a bay server of mine up just when I feel like blowing shit up and only by myself. And even though its just me, it feels like running is basically walking because of how much stuff the baycode has (Half of which is either shitty or pointless, anyway).
