So, I though, vehicles specially for asteroids could be in mining station, and you could store stuff in it, that would be cool, I'd like little pods that you can drive when you fill in fuel would be cool... Wonder, is it hard to code?

Oh god, the day we put in vehicles is the day here we let the QM loose with 8 full speed MULEs with no safety on them.
If we put them in, then they must be for space travel or on the mining outpost. We already have people hurling down the hallways knocking whatever people are pulling along out of their grasps.
As long as that is done, then I welcome the idea.

Mechs = Vehicles. Bug the roboticist (kindly) enough, and he might just give you one.

Ripleys:
-Move extremely slow
-Cannot maneuver in space without a researched jetpack attachment
-Cannot transport more than one person
-Require collaboration between at least two people besides the miners to produce (roboticist and either the QM or the RD)
-Are often kept by the roboticist/hijacked by the captain before the miners ever get them.
I don't think that some kind of rover or trolley-like vehicle for the miners should be ruled out hastily. I'd like to see one able to carry at least two miners as well as an ore box and maybe some additional equipment like an O2 canister. Ideally, it would also have lights on it and maybe some sort of ore vacuum allowing it to gather ore that it drove over into the on-board ore box.

Mech doesnt count as vehicle though, and many mechs without vehicles - not so realistic

Agouri, a TG coder, is working on vehicles currently. The vehicles were several tiles big and fly around space. I think it's more of an experiment at the moment so don't get your hopes up. I think he was having trouble with a few things.

Calling it now it's probably going to lag the hell out of the server somehow.

Has the idea of drones been discussed? Remote controled from a PDA, hand held screen, or computer, possibly faster than a mech but more fragile and not able to use all the heavy equiptment that mechs can. Small remote machines would assist with asteroids but not be overly large in production or transport. The only real downside I can see is that drones would not be able to transport people like a large vehicle would be able to.

I can see it now! an awesome army of bots that go into different hazardous environments for us. But then Honkington Jr. rolls out of nowhere with a honkpocolypse machine strapped to it. leaving us all with an advanced form of tarriots throat, that only allows for you to speak in honks.

I guess that would be a problem, being on a computer when someone talks to you or attacks you... damage to you could cause you to loose focus and go back to person view.

Mulebots with a space suit on them.
