I had the Idea after seeing the game room, talking to a friend about the thunder dome, and watching the Hunger Games. Basically you have a grid of rooms that are all controlled and interchangeable by a Game Master's console. Centcom kidnaps crew members and puts them on a shuttle. They are dumped into the maze and be the last one standing. In each of the available rooms the GM has chosen. there can be different hazards and items. Cameras make it so the crew can watch from the bar and other monitors. Different selectable rooms would be Hallway (T,X,-), Tool room, Toxins, Space, Chem lab, destroyed, beach, grassy, library, Ect. The console could also be Emagged to add rooms like Syndicate armory, Singularity, Alien Hatchery. To prevent escape, the entire arena is surrounded by the 'Inescapeable Prison' shield generator layout.
What do you guys think?

Yeah, the ability to set up "away missions" or something could be cool. I wouldn't use the holodeck stuff though because it's pretty flawed.
Somebody a while ago was working on some code that allowed people to add/remove Z-levels mid-game. That's the only way I see stuff like this happening. That or making an entirely new map for special rounds which would require phenomenal amounts of work

One solution is to make take the lay-out of the holding pen for Holodeck arenas (Anyone who has poked around in the TG code has seen it/Ghosted while dead near Centcomm) and use a different from of transportation from area to area. Rather than physically moving each location to link together, have each one linked via teleportation pads and whatnot to help keep the game from clusterfucking.
As for where to place it, adding the Z-level mid-game shouldn't be required if the zone already exists and is admin/jump accessible only (See: Centcomm Z-level). Finally, Admins I believe have access to sandbox in-game... so they should be able to quickly set up each room as they like so long as the basic overall structure is there.
