I think all job should have a RIG storage, with their job style and stuff, unlockable only by departament's head, in emergency cases, whadda ya think?

Goonstation had an emergency eva suit set up. Incredibly bulky, very slow to move in and had a chance of ripping. I like the idea, but that is initially what EVA storage is for and a good deal of departments are either fairly secure from space or dont require it at all (eg: Medical, which is shielded by Research). Only time it is really required is when a bomb goes off exposing an interior section to vacuum... which is rare.

From what I understand, the current way those suits work is by maintaining or slowing the rate ones body cools in the vacuum... So if we created a space suit that simply was less effective then it could work. eg: Body temp drops at a rate that within two/three minutes of exposure you are taking damage

Firesuits are the poor man's rig. They do exactly as winterblitz just described and I think they're in every emergency closet already.

Yeah... well I write this reply (yes, this one your reading) just to get my 50th post... meh Which is also the reason why it gets deleted. OT: The health-on-back thing sounds like it'd be a nice gimmick copied from Dead Space, but the main function of a RIG suit is to provide protection against space, not check how the person's doing. For monitoring someone's health we already have suit sensors. Also the main function of EVA is for emergency protection against space. If every department had their own accessible EVA then I think we'd have a lot more people floating off to derelict for 'adventure-time' while neglecting their jobs. On top of that, simply not everyone is supposed to have access to spacesuits at a whim and that is why EVA is restricted access.
