My byond name is Perogi. I was banned by Foos today because he was mad. Here is what happened and the argument for why it was OK.
In this game I was the HoS. Shortly into the game there was a plague of monkeys perpetrated by (as far as I knew) a mime. Everyone was screaming about the mime running around injecting people with genetic modifies. The AI informed the crew to kill all the monkeys seeing as they are not human, and they were causing harm to humans (at least one monkey is confirmed to have turned a human into a monkey). So I set about killing monkeys because it is my job to protect the station. One of the monkeys I killed was PREVIOUSLY (that word is important) the captain. I then assumed captainship using the ID on the monkey body and went about running the station.
Why this is OK: Humans are allowed to kill monkeys, always. Monkeys have no rights under Space Law. Especially when monkeys are causing problems. So regardless of whether I knew that monkey was the captain or not does not matter. Foos accused me of meta-gaming and this is not true, I did not know which monkeys were previously the captain. Even if I was meta-gaming though it should not matter because what I did was entirely acceptable. I assumed captainship because the station was still in a bit of chaos from monkey's and the HoP was not reporting in. After the monkeys were dead the HoP was found and he did not want to be the captain. In fact when a detective named Shafter Masterson arrested me (wrongly) for killing a monkey (a detective arresting the captain) the HoP freed me and RETURNED THE SPARE CAPTAIN ID TO ME. I do realize that I caused some unhappiness to the monkey-captain and that he could have been changed back, but that's not how it happened unfortunately. Sometimes things like that happen in SS13 and I was at no fault for killing a monkey, regardless of what office the monkey previously held. Monkeys do not hold offices. Logically I have done nothing wrong.
Second I killed and spaced a mime. Now I'm not even sure why this is an issue, people get killed all the time and I even had a good reason. The mime allegedly started the monkey plague so I went to arrest him. Obviously interrogating a mime is difficult but I was going to bring him back to interrogation anyway and see what could be done. He resisted arrest for five minutes during which he caused trouble in cargo, atmospherics, and the bar. He was a very good mime and kept using invisible walls to escape, so I authorized the use of lethal force to my security crew. I did this because he had been resisting for so long and was continuing to cause trouble. The warden and I ended up shooting him down in a hallway. I instructed the warden to bring him to prison medical and attempt to save him, but the mime died on the way. The warden then decided to space the mime, I left that decision up to him as the mime had become his responsibility. It was a decision I agreed with, that mime was dangerous and I didn't want it cloned.
Why this is OK: The mime caused havoc all over the station and resisted arrest for five minutes. Had he not resisted and communicated in some way why he'd been causing havoc, I would certainly not have killed him. But I attempted to arrest him non-lethally several times which all failed so I (as the de facto captain) authorized lethal force on the mime. Honestly I don't see why he raised such a fuss about it, what did he think was going to happen running around turning people into monkeys and ordering dangerous tools in cargo to use in atmospherics? Spacing the mime was the Warden's decision but I supported in him it as a superior.
Why Foos is a bad admin: I explained all this to him and I was banned anyway. Foos ignored my very sound arguments and banned be because he was mad at the grief I had caused other players. Because I was better than the mime (though he was a good mime) I defeated him and I was well within my rights to. Foos ignored my arguments and banned for no good reason. According to the rules of the game I was in the right and Foos was in the wrong as a horrible admin. If you can refute my arguments I will be open to it and impressed, but I mostly suspect Foos will come here and yell at me for arguing that he is a terrible person because he is ruled by emotions, like a little girl!
In conclusion: I should be unbanned immediately and Foos is a horrible person.
As a side note, you may start screaming about how I'm committing the HURR AD HOMINEM FALLACY. I am not. Ad Hominem is when you support and argument by insulting the person arguing the opposite point (your argument is invalid because you're a bad person). I am not doing this, Foos being a bad person is in fact MY ARGUMENT, and not a supporting point of an argument. My logic is flawless, fuck all of you. :umad:
