Warnipple's guide to escaping permabrig

So I looked all over for a guide on how to do it but never found it. Instead I asked for permabrig and attempted to break out. It was pretty easy actually but since there's no guide on how to do it, I will make one. Just a warning: even if you're in on false pretenses, getting caught escaping usually leads to your execution but this is avoidable. Don't get caught.

Step 1: Get permabrigged.

Okay not really a step but lets just say you got permabrig because the fucking mime stole your ID and you robusted him into crit but didn't kill him! <== Important that you didn't kill him.

Once you're in permabrig then you've completed this step.

Step 2: Check if you have shoes. Did that asshole sec guy give you shoes? He should've. They help a lot, if you didn't get any shoes beg some sec officer to give you shoes. Remember: A good attitude when being permabrigged will most definitely get you shoes and they help.

Step 2.5: Is that idiot coming to give you shoes? Well if he is, try and robust him if possible. Thats your chance at escape! To Robust: Disarm to push him down, get an item off him and show him how robust you are.

Step 3: Alright assuming you have no shoes and no guard coming. You're at this step. If you did get shoes well good on you, they help but if you didn't then you will have to be a little bit more careful. What you want to do now is WAIT. You don't want to attempt an escape right when you reach permabrig. They will expect you to try but you need to show them what a good prisoner you are. Play the arcade for a while.

Step 3.5: To win at the arcade, attack when you are above 15hp, heal when you are below 15hp and never heal if you have 3 or less magic. When he is below 10hp he will heal himself, when he is out of magic he will try and steal your magic. If you have 0 magic or less, you will lose. So make sure to have more than 7 magic before trying finishing the enemy off.

Step 4: Alright so you played a bit of arcade and won yourself some shit eh? There is a good item that spawns from the arcade. If you manage to get the Tactical Coat SKS or whatever, put that shit on. For some reason it has cold resistance so your chest won't recieve burn damage when you are out in space.

Assuming you've waited a fair bit of time, nows your chance to attempt an escape! If someone joined you in permabrig, thats great!! You can use his body to break the window (note don't kill him, just grab him 2 times and throw him at the window). If no one joined you.. well theres still a way.

Step 4.5: If no one joinned you then the other way to break the window is to grab a burnt out light. If there are no burnt out lights then you will have to make one. None of the arcade items can break a window so don't bother trying to win more stuff. Maybe if you ask nicely, the AI will overload the lighting circuit for you. Maybe if you pray to the Gods they will break a light for you.

Step 5: Alright so once you've got your 'tool' start breaking the window. If you have a buddy then make sure to give him a glass shard when you can so he can help you break the windows. The inner windows have 3 layers of glass so you need to break quite a bit, luckily the other side only has 1 layer of glass. Break the 3 layers with your 'tool' and then pick up a shard of glass to break the electrified grille. Once the first wall is broken, you will have to stand on 1 square of space to break into the next layer. You will take some damage, if you get too low, make sure to back out and go to a cell to sleep off the damage (you heal while sleeping on the bed).

If you don't have shoes, then remember to throw the glass shards on the table behind you before attempting to walk over it.

Step 5: Now what you want to do is call the prison shuttle and that requires you to break one more layer. If its already here then skip this step.

Step 5.5: If you somehow fucked up and in dire need of medical aid, theres a first aid kit to the east of the prison station. I highly recommend all novices loot that on their way to freedom.

Step 6: You will need to break two more layers of glass and grilles to get on the shuttle. Once on, use the console to go back to the station. Buckle in, theres still some more work ahead.

Step 7: Alright you're back at the station, right outside sec. Now you have to break 4 more windows to sec maint. Becareful on the last one, you will fly off to space a couple times, just run back right away.

Step 8: Alright now you are in sec maint. Make sure to check if the backdoor to armoury is open. From there you can arm yourself to robust the next sec officer that stands in your path. Theres a small breach so its going to get cold soon. What should you do? Well you have a couple options at this point.

You can
- Hide in the locker in lower sec maint and hope someone comes around.
- Try and robust a sec officer when they come to investigate (not recommended)
- Fill sec with n2o (lower sec maint to the left is an atmos station. Turn on the valves to flood the station with n2o. Make sure to use the gas mask and the o2 tank.

Well and thats it. Thats the farthest I've gotten. FREEEEEEEEDOMMMMM!!!


Another method from Spacegargamel

Throw any item against the glass. Even non force items cause slight damage if thrown. It may be a couple of minutes, but not like 10.

Then use the shard on stools to get metal, and turn that into floor tiles. Once the reinforced glass is destroyed, tile up the grids in space rapidly.

If you use someone else to smash to freedom, you'll kill them through throwing them at the window repeatedly.

Throwing other people doesn't do damage last time I checked, also if needed you could throw them at a light and then use the broken light to smash windows. There is a complementary bruise pack and ointment for the first permabrigged person.

Once you're in sec maint, one way to break out it to break the main window leading to space. Then run into the airlock to the left, if I'm not mistaken, then anyone has access to it. Or maybe it requires maint access.

If that doesn't work, get metal from those stools, make a bed in maint, run to the nearest window and hit it until you think you can make it back without dying. Sleep in the bed you made to heal, go again until you successfully break into the main station.
I can't remember where the nearest window is, if the server comes back up I'll figure it out and let you guys know if this strat is even viable.
