Appeal: Okay, this is my third (and hopefully final) attempt to write this thanks to some mis-clicking whenever I leave the computer, so I'll keep it short.
The story:
- Eric Helka (CommandoNixon) was absorbed by a ling
- I performed surgery and recovered his brain.
- He effectively swore allegiance to me.
- We set out, with his information, to kill lings.
- We ordered guns.
- Engineering made a "test question" to test the staff with should the question arise that one of them was absorbed.
- Said question was posed to me, and I did not see it.
- Engineering sent Security after me.
- With guns and a ling scare, Helka and I knew that we would be killed should we surrender to the security.
- We opened fire with lethal weapons (which were all we had on us [well, all I had, one of the officers claimed in deadchat that he was killed with a harmbaton])
- I didn't kill anyone but Eric Helka killed 2 officers.
- I was incinerated by the HoP without trial (I'll be making a ban request separate from this [well, I'm hoping more like a warning to the HoP as under the circumstances, I would have acted the same])
- Eric Helka was banned for killing 2 officers
The reasoning:
Since we would have been killed (at some point, be it as we were being "arrested", or after a "trial"), we opened fire.
Under Rule 10 of the server rules, we should be protected (okay, kind of). It states that murder is acceptable under "visible risk of death", but also states that you can only escape from arrest, not kill the security to avoid being arrested.
His reason was bullshit, but there's really no protocol for acting under these conditions, so I think an unbanning of CommandoNixon and an amendment to Rule 10 for a protocol to act under in this situation (should it come up again) would be fair to all parties.
It was fairly easy to find him, his Steam name is Commando_Nixon (which is how I contacted him after he was banned). I'll tell him to add someone as a friend should they need to contact him for more information.
