So it's late and I thought about making a suggestion on a new engine for engineering, so forgive me if I fuck up somewhere in this.
Anyway, my idea is that engineering should get a new engine, I mean, we've had an older one which I think was based around heat/combustion, and now a singularity/black hole engine with collectors that turn the radiation generated from it into energy.
Well quite frankly I think the singulo engine is getting too old, and I also think its too easy to set up IMHO, but a lot of people seem to fuck up everything possible in it.
My idea with an Atomizer engine, was that it would be a kind of generator or such that smashes together atoms/particles in a way to create energy, and no, not like that dinky little particle accelerator in engineering, but a much, much larger one, which generates energy by, the previously stated way, by smashing together particles, then collecting the energy produced by it.
Here's the catch, the thing will get hot quickly, and there are only a few ways for the heat to be reduced. If it gets too hot, it will explode, quite violently, and radiation will flood a large part of the station. But it can't get too cold either, if it gets too cold, it will not function at its full potential, causing it to produce less energy. If it gets too cold, it may malfunction and break, at this point, engineering would have to get new parts from cargo, or from R&D's protolathe.
Ways to cool the Atomizer/Particle Accelerator Engine
I would think there may be a central control console for the engine in a small room that overlooks the engine. In this room, the central control computer would sit, along with a power level monitor, heat monitor. The central control computer would require an ID card with Engine Room access in order for it to be dicked with, or a nice swipe of an emag will also do the trick. From there, you can control how much coolant it receives, how hard the engine is working, and whether you wish to enable the emergency heat dump.
The reason why you can control how much superchilled gas is being put into the chamber containing the PA engine is this - the room will get hot as fuck with the engine on, even with a hardsuit on, you'll slowly die from heat damage, which is a good reason why the superchilled gas canisters should be as full as possible, because you wont be able to sit in that room for long before your ass needs to be dragged to medbay.
That is what I can think of for now, I'm a bit tired cause its so damn late but I think I covered a good portion of what I had in mind.

Ways to cool the Atomizer/Particle Accelerator Engine
- Cooling the Particle Accelerator with a kind of superchilled gas, probably oxygen. *Safest way*
- Cooling the Particle Accelerator by exposing the room to space. *Slightly unsafe*
- Turning on an "emergency coolant mode" , which is just a glorified "dump all of the heat into the surrounding area".
- Or of course, shutting the damn thing off then waiting a while for the heat to dissipate slowly.
