Is there any way to give one of the 2 mining stations a steady power supply so it may become a permanent home for miners? I would think solars would be a good idea however that would require solar trackers and a solar computer which im not even sure you can build. If you know any way other then keep replacing the battery i would be grateful to know.

Well seeing as you can no longer move the mining shuttle to the south station, I see no reason why it can't be a remnant of the old Mining Outpost, miners would have to mine to get to it (or just space travel but who does that anyway?) and it doesn't even need to be that big, just a proper, air tight room etc. There's plenty of space for a nice little mining outpost here, doesn't even need to be the south station so why can't we have nice things... budget cuts of course

Honestly the entire new mining Z-Level is pretty lame compared to the old one IMHO.

Indeed, i even think that the old mining asteroid was larger as well with areas to get sand easily.

Would it be possible to add a Pacman generator to mining? I have set up solars in mining before however they take forever and arn't really worth the effort at that point.

Can't you construct a PACMAN generator via research? Since you are a miner you will be really close friends with Science Division anyway. I suppose the purpose of the current mining station is for miners to build up their own ultimate home of mining wonders by themselves, but unless we can actually construct the refinery for conveinence in the mining asteroid I guess most miners just don't care enough.

I looked up the research level that is required to get a pacman machine. To get a pacman machine you would need dun dun dun, a pacman machine?. The engineering and power levels that is required is about 5-6. I think and the only object that you can sacrifice that is that level of research to the deconstructer is the pacman machine (unless facepunch has added a new item that is that level as well which is not on the wiki).

The closest thing I got to adding power to mining was to deconstructing a solars computer and building it on the satellite above mining and making a path for it back to mining. When I did this though I was the only crew member and I had the captains ID so I could get the proper equipment to get gloves, wires, and the module from the computer (it also took about 30-45 minutes to get this all up). In an actual round where you have a job as a miner and you can't just get the proper equipment with ease I am not sure this is possible.

Adding a generator to the station like on the old one would be effient however, in the mean time you could always just ask an engineer for the one in Secure Storage. Its never used anyways and you could even have THEM set it up for you.
I personally think it would be hilarious to try and set up a singularity engine during a round on minning. Maybe with a disposal chute attached for feeding Lord Singuloth space clowns slag and plasma for increasing its size.

Setting up an engine would take to long and unless its a 3+ hour round and you actually plan to live at mining I'm not sure if it would be worth it. There would also be an issue that if it got loose it would drift into space (I'm not sure if it can pass z levels though) and may come visit the station. Though hearing people yell "SING is loose" while there is still the normal sing still at engineering would be funny. Even funnier if they thought it was because of god-mins or an event and started bitching about it.

(and get banned for it.)

Honestly the entire new mining Z-Level is pretty lame compared to the old one IMHO. I agree, the old style was a lot better. Having the dorms and common room was nice too. It also had a storage room with a generator in it, solving the main problem discussed on this thread. Honestly, I don't think the map builders for this station took much time with mining as the original TG station map builders did with their's. The toxins mixing is a nice touch but the old asteroid had little secrets to be discovered, making mining interesting for first time miners. I think it would be nice to have randomly generated structures on the mining asteroid, that way miners would be encouraged to go mining as it is a single-player game most of the time when you are a miner.

The main issue here is not that the new or old mining was boring but the new one is unlivable. The top one will run outta power but not only that it is constantly losing oxygen and to top it all off it looks like at least 20 al qaeda operatives blew themselves up there. The bottom part I have no clue why its there but it will also lose power. The only difference for the bottom is that its in sorta one piece, and that it does not lose oxygen. Lastly for making it interesting for miners for the first time again. If you mean having to go to a field trip to the stations junk ward as interesting.

Why couldn't we just copy paste the old mining station? I can understand wanting our own, but we totally could have just editted it to fit our needs, whatever the hell those are, SCOOTER. Or Marde, whatever. I'm guessing like turning the "bridge" into a two tile space so you don't have to shove people out of it to get to the other side every time. I miss old mining.

There has been a small step taken. Someone added a portable generator to mining however it is just a frame. So mining is still fucked on power.
