Seeing as how I normally play a Security Officer, and I run into this situation from time to time, I feel the need to ask what would be RP-ingly permissive.
I understand that under normal circumstances the Station runs under Military order. With Captain, and H.O.S. on top, but what happens if the Captain, or the H.O.S. do something that involves breaking a space law? Such as assaulting a prisoner. Even if its not in intent to kill them, but just to 'teach them a lesson.'
How as I, the Sec Officer, treat this situation? Do Sec Officers have near MP status? Capable of arresting anyone? Or if the Captain sets an order for Sec to 'KILL ALL CL0WNS', do I, as a security officer, and underling. Have to follow that order? Thus becoming a griefer by extension.
This really bothers the mess out of me, because at times it seems like H.O.S.es especially feels the need to 'step out of his boundries' and assault a character in an attempt to make an 'example.' This wouldn't be so bad, if said example wasn't every other prisoner.
And obviously, in the terms of trying to NOT play shitcurity, it should be the Sec Officers job to be the Long Arm of the Space Law, being at the core of their job to ensure safety, and prolonged life to the stations members. And rarely, if ever, through lethal force.
So I guess what it boils down to, can I arrest H.O.S. if he's beating a prisoner senseless, or do I have to just stand by, and allow him to do so?
