Work in Progress. Adds stuff you want in and I will add it. Need to finish two to four sections, add three more sections and add about 4 comics. Oh and start creating more guides to add to the job section.
Welcome to Space Station 13 you have been chosen or been chosen to be part of the stations crew! Enough with the technical talk though, lets get down to basics. The first two steps involve things you might already know already, but if your just starting to play and haven't done these, please do them.

IC and OOC and why you should care!
Before this guide continues I want to establish two things, In Character (IC) and Out of Character (OOC). Do not speak about whats happening outside the round in IC and whats happening in the round in OOC. IC, you are the person you control. OOC, you are you. Supposing your an assistant in game, you should not know IC that the Research Director has a pAI. OOC you know, IC you don't.
Round Setup
O'k so I'm actually in the game now. Now what?
Well Jerry, you have one choice. Setting up your character. Press the Setup Character button to begin editing your character. Be unique but remember, imagine if you were actually this person. Would your person have blue hair? Give yourself a first and last name, try to keep it appropriate.
At the very bottom are several choices such as traitor, wizard, AI and others. Keep these set to off. You don't want to ruin a round by being a traitor or wizard on your first few rounds.
After you finish your character your going to start wondering about the different jobs you can pick on your space adventure. Well that is were things get strict. You are just starting, you know nothing, and the guides linked to here are designed for people that are used to the stations layout. Luckily there is one job that fits you, the assistant. The assistant is your run of the mill job that literally does nothing. Your main job is to find the Head of Personnel. Since you are new ask the Head of Personnel for a job change and ask someone else who has the same job you want how to do what they do. Now here is the thing, you need to speak in character (IC). Lets see some examples which are located after this short comic!
What not to do:
Jerry the Geneticist: gib me jub chnge 2 b0tan1st lols.
What to do:
Jerry the Geneticist: Hello there sir, I would like to have my job changed from a Geneticist to a botanist please.
Now lets imagine I am the Head of Personnel, these would be my reactions to you depending on what you responded with
What not to do:
Alsbeth Rothmann: Er. Excuse me sir, I don't understand what you are saying. Would you like me to call medical up here to get you checked out?
What to do:
Alsbeth Rothmann: Hello there. Botanist you say? Coming right up!
Simple right? Now remember everyone makes mistakes when they type. I make mistakes, newbies make mistakes, experienced players make mistakes, admins make mistakes. If you can correct yourself in a way close to the following it makes it an in character reason for it happening.
Scoota Buoy: Hello crew, have a nice daiy.
Scoota Buoy: Day I should say. Slip of the tongue.
But wait! You just joined and the rounds already started! You can't declare ready. Now what? You can join the round by hitting the Join button. You will be presented with a list of jobs that have remaining spots left. Job preferences only apply to before the round has begun and distributes jobs based on the priority each player has of their jobs. Late joiners have a little more flexibility as they can choose the job they want rather then let it be based on your chosen job priority. You can only have one set to high, but multiple mediums and lows. Here are two examples:
Rochard Phillips:
Captain - [High]
Detective - [Medium]
Roboticist - [Low]
Leonard Graham:
Geneticist - [High]
Captain - [Medium]
Chaplain - [Low]
With this here it will pick from the people that have Captain selected with one of the three choices. From these three choices, it will pick someone who was it set to High. If it can't find someone set to high, it will try to find someone who has it set to medium. From the examples, Rochard has Captain set to high. It will pick him over Leonard. Now lets suppose the next round both are the only two people with captain set to anything. Imagine Rochard forgets to declare ready. Because it can't find a person with it set to high, it will try to find a person set to medium which would be Leonard. The same applies for Low. Also remember when it determines jobs, it usually tries to apply jobs to people from the alphabetical list of jobs. If you have Atmospheric Technician set to medium and Warden set to medium, it will place you in Atmospheric Technician due to the order.
Now lets say you didn't choose a job. First off, you just completely ignored most of this guide. Secondly you are now an assistant. If you have no job, it makes you an assistant.
I'm dead Jim, now what?
Security member stun baton you to death? Ran out of oxygen? Great news, your out of the round! Even better news, your a ghost. Ghosts is pretty much a after round chat were other dead people or observers can chat about the current round.
But thats too boring you ask. Well you also have a chance of play again through one of the following methods.
1. Someone finds your body and clones in Genetics.
2. Someone uses a Soul Shard on your body.
3. An alien larvae is created from a face hugger.
4. An admin starts an admin event that involves Death Squad.
What Not To Do, ever
Do not ever kill anyone, ever. As death is semi-permanent killing someone for no reason at all has a chance of spawning an angry admin PM in your chat log. Some IC reasons do not apply. This include but are not limited to: Changling/Traitor/Cult/Syndicate members. If they have a task to kill someone or a large amount of people, they are allowed to. If Marty Sist joins mid-game and randomly starts killing people with a toolbox, that is not allowed. IC reasons such as self defense can occur if your attacked, but are conditional.
Do not ever ignore a PM from an administrator. Usually you get these if you did something bad, such as killing someone when you have no valid IC reason or they just want to talk to you, mostly the first one.
Do not metagame. This is a guide about it. Basically its when you use information your character should not know and apply it to in-game. For example in OOC you see someone said something about Cindy Stomp being a traitor. You now know that Cindy Stomp is a traitor. Your character doesn't. Now up to this point, all Cindy has done so far is spawned a syndicate item and put it in her pocket. If you track her down as soon as you hear that and kill her, thats going into hot water right there with the admins.
Do not lie to the Admins, ever. The admins have logs of what is happening in the rounds. Suppose Moe Lee was a traitor that was killed near the end of the round right when he was about to win by Xavier Dawkins. The next round he makes it his intention to get Xavier banned by an admin. This is a metagrudge, see metagaming for that. Continuing on, he attacks himself a few times to get his clothing bloody and goes up to Xavier and attacks him a few times. He runs to an empty room and adminhelps that Xavier attacked him for no reason. The responding admin PM's Xavier asking why he did that. Xavier responds that Moe attacked him only. Conflicted, the admin checks the attack logs, logs that show if someone has been fighting. In it he see's that Xavier has not attacked anyone, but Moe has. Moe is then banned for griefing, lying to an admin and metagaming. Admins can check items for fingerprints as well.
What to always do
Speak in character.
Be polite.
Do your job.
Listen to admins, always.
Remember that admins will try to make the round fun. Although it won't be fun for some, others will have fun.
Adminhelp
Sometimes a round goes downhill and people are randomly killing each other. Adminhelp things like these. If people are not antagonists, they should not be doing this. If someone has killed 4 people for no reason and they just killed you, adminhelp it. The more that do, the better chance the person gets admin action taken on them.
When you adminhelp be kind and respectful. Admins are people too and thus can make rational decisions on their own and can almost always not be duped into believing a lie, so just remember that when you start lying and insulting them for not making you an alien.
Things to keep in mind,
Job and other Guides
